There she was, identifying with a dog bred by Germans to kill Jews, dressed primly and basking in adoration from a crowd drunk with her kool-aid. She did her job. She got them drunk so they would not notice how John-Wayne-Bush-McSame morphed into copycat mode and tried to cloak himself in Obama's words and ideas. In their mind-altered state, they would not notice that, bereft of original, creative ideas, he started his campaign talking about his experience, then morphed into knowing how to fight wars as foreign policy, then morphed into "country first", now he has slithered into Obama's shadow and is trying to call himself an instrument of change, copied Obama's convention stage, and found a bracelet of a soldier to wear like Obama had been wearing since the early days of his primary campaign.
What is this toxic elixir that awoke the living dead we saw the first night of the convention? What is this Kool-aid? It's an old drink. It predates James Jones in Guyana. It promises paradise here and now. It is usually packaged with the words "all American". Its ingredients are smug self-righteousness, self-delusion, hypocrisy, shallow sarcasm, stunted creativity, and an evil destructiveness borne of fear. The kool-aid has the effect of rendering the drinker extremely paranoid and fearful of all differences except those they choose. Notice the black cavern of a meeting space with the nosebleed floor heavily salted with a sea of white people and a tiny few grains of black pepper scattered about. Too much pepper makes them afraid. They are comforted with the occasional black, brown, or yellow being carefully measured amongst them and prominently marched out on stage during the preliminaries.
The Ms. Pit Bull and John-Wayne-Bush-McSame duo performed like perfect, wooden robots. She served the kool-aid; he served the propaganda. Through them, their openly cynical handlers showed their contempt of the American populace because we were so easily fooled for the first six years. But, the pain of kool-aid withdrawal radiated throughout the land and awakened many from their stupor who heretofore thought themselves part of the inside crowd that had abundant kool-aid, or were too young to have ever drunk it themselves yet saw their parent's generation imbibe. The handlers were so indifferent to the general populace that they are scrambling to regain control. Being religiously dogmatic and spiritually bankrupt, they do not recognize the hand of God as the Universe shifts; and they do not recognize that real change is out of their control. They are the most afflicted among the kool-aid addicts.
Their children wonder: how can you change anything you heretofore have never talked about? Why is it that the only budget priorities you mention are war and corporate welfare? Why do you think "bomb, bomb, bomb" is the only solution to keeping yourself in your drunken state? Do you not see that YOU and your kool-aid induced paranoia is what makes the world a dangerous place with your constant emphasis on the military as the answer to every difference of opinion, lifestyle, or sharing of the earth's resources?
The toxic elixir is potent. Even those who only caught fumes from the kool-aid are affected by it. Anderson Cooper misunderstood what I meant in my August 18 article "Don't Drink The Kool-aid--Again!" and erroneously and hysterically accused Paul Begala with "You drank the kool-aid!" after Begala complimented Obama's speech at the Democratic convention. It's sad what has happened to Anderson Cooper. He was really cool when he first had his show during the 7 o'clock hour and when he exposed the Bush administrations poor response to the people devastated by hurricane Katrina. Now, he seems to have lost his sharpness and shows much disrespect to the Democrats--as if he has been force-fed the kool-aid.
The CNN pundit shows the same slant; he labeled Obama a "born again populist" and referred to the Obama campaign as "tight-lipped"--those kool-aid-induced words would have been better replaced with mention of the fact that, since the early days of the primary, Barack Obama has repeatedly said to the American people, "I will wake up every morning thinking about you." His entire adult life has been a contribution to others to improve their lives. And, instead of "tight lipped", how about "organized, disciplined and showing extraordinary executive skills?" I wonder if Schneider is going to refer to the latest iteration of the John-Wayne-Bush-McSame facade of "change" as a "born again populist".
Fortunately, there is balance in the Universe. There are the wise and studious among us like Carl Bernstein whose thoughtful words "it is up to us media to address complexities and depth of issues rather than being sidetracked on what politicians want to determine as 'news'." We sorely miss Tim Russert and appreciate the work of people like Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow for their high level of objectivity, and Keith Olbermann for his willingness to research and dig below the surface of issues.
The belief in the illusion that there is intrinsic superiority in white skin, the dedication to Darwinian views of humanity that "survival of the fittest" means that "might makes right", the devaluing of human life to render all who are not white in need of emulating whites--that is the central ingredient in the kool-aid. It is an offense against our Creator, a scourge on human progress, and soon will be rendered weaker as The Universe shifts towards Truth, Justice, Righteousness, Balance, Harmony, Reciprocity, and Order
